UTM Link Builder
Generate tagged URLs for tracking your campaigns across every channel. Pick a template or build one from scratch.
The short version
UTM parameters are small tags you add to the end of a URL. When someone clicks that tagged link, Google Analytics (or any analytics tool) reads those tags and tells you exactly where the visitor came from, what campaign brought them, and which specific link they clicked. Without them, your traffic just shows up as “direct” or “referral” … which tells you almost nothing. The five UTM parameters
| Parameter | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Source | Which platform or site sent the traffic | facebook, newsletter |
| Medium | The marketing channel type | social, email, cpc |
| Campaign | Your specific campaign name | spring_sale_2025 |
| Term | The paid keyword (mainly for ads) | running+shoes |
| Content | Differentiates similar links | header_cta, blue_button |
Naming tips that’ll save you headaches
Stay lowercase. Google Analytics treatsFacebook and facebook as two different sources. Always use lowercase.
Use underscores, not spaces. Spaces turn into
%20 in URLs. Use underscores or hyphens instead.
Be consistent. If you call it
facebook once, don’t switch to fb next time.
Be specific with campaigns.
sale is useless in six months. summer_sale_july_2025 tells you exactly what’s what.
