How to Find Your Google Place ID

1

Search above

Type your business name and location into the search box in Step 1. If your business appears, select it and the Place ID fills in automatically.

2

Use Google’s Place ID Finder

Go to developers.google.com and search for your business. Copy the Place ID string that starts with “ChIJ”.

3

Check Google Maps

Search for your business on Google Maps. The URL often contains the Place ID. Look for the string after “1s” in the URL… it starts with “ChIJ” or “0x”.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Google Place ID?
A Place ID is a text identifier that Google assigns to every place in its database. Your business has one. It’s the key ingredient for building a direct review link that sends customers straight to the review form, skipping the search step entirely.
Is it against Google’s rules to ask for reviews?
No. Google actively encourages business owners to ask customers for reviews. Their own Business Profile documentation says to “share the link created for customers to write reviews.” What you should avoid is offering incentives for reviews, posting fake reviews, or selectively asking only happy customers.
Can I customise the QR code?
The QR code generated here is a standard black-and-white code. You can download it as PNG or SVG and customise it in any image editor. Just make sure you test it after editing, as changing too much of the pattern can make it unscannable.
How many reviews should I aim for?
There’s no magic number. Consistency matters more than volume. A business that gets 2-3 reviews a month, every month, will outperform one that got 50 reviews two years ago and nothing since. Recent reviews carry more weight in Google’s local ranking.
Does this tool store my data?
No. Everything happens in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server. Your Place ID, business name, and generated links stay on your device. Refresh the page and it’s all gone.
Where should I put the QR code?
Counter cards, receipts, menus, table tents, business cards, invoices, email signatures, vehicle wraps, packaging. Anywhere your customer might have 30 seconds and a phone. The print card template above is designed for exactly this.
